Origin: Ancient Egypt

Materials: Painted wood and ivory frame set loosly with crossbars or vertical pars, with loose rings encircling the head. (often hung with jingles).

Family: Percussion

Similar: disc rattle, strung rattle, sistrum, bell glockenspiel

Use: Sounds when the instrument is shaken. A handle is attached to the frame.
